Okay, I'm submitting to the narcissism that is basically in all of us:

what do you think of MY name: Tamsin?

Feel free to say, 'EEWW!!1', 'Gross' or 'Not my thing'. I'm totally okay with honesty; I'd just like to know.

And what's better: Tamsin or Tam?

You have a lovely name, it's been on my list of favorites for years. I also like it spelled Tamsyn. Either way, I much prefer it to Tam. :)

As long as you don't go by Tami/Tammy/Tammi/Tammie. I hate that name ever since I knew a really snotty girl named Tami in my softball league.

I think it's a pretty cool name. Much better than some of the names that are popular nowadays.

I actually like it. Very unique. I would stick with Tamsin or maybe Tamy

I read it in a book forever ago and I like it. I don't know if I would use it, but i really like it.
I think Tamsin is better than Tam.

My best friend growing up K-12 was named Tamsen. I'm so entirely used to the name it doesn't seem weird at all to me. I love it. And she got tons of compliments on her name all the time. (I was so jealous as a completely boring Jennifer...) I tend to prefer the spelling Tamsen just because I think -sen has a softer sound and doesn't have "sin" sticking out at you. But I'm probably just so used to seeing it spelled her way, that now Tamsin doesn't look right to me.

Calling her Tam or Tammy was putting yourself at risk to receive a glare-of-death. She hated them - I guess I kind of feel the same. Not a fan of Tam.

I like Tamsin. It's unusual and makes me think of the colour turquoise, or a precious stone. I don't like Tam, it reminds me of Tammy.. which i HATE!

It's not really my style but I don't dislike it really.

Where does the name come from?

ok, just curious, but I just wrote an email to a friend of a friend named Tamsin, and since it's such an unusual name it just might be you. Do you know anyone in Ottawa?

I've liked it since hearing it on an Aussie actress but wondered where it originated and what it meant for quite a while. Your mentioning it reminds me that I really ought to get around to looking it up.

It's lovely.

Actually, looking it up, her name isn't Tamsin -- hers is Tammin Sursok, but I could have sworn I heard Tamsin somewhere before. Huh. I'll be wondering how I flubbed that one for a while.

It reminds me of the Peter S. Beagle novel of the same name (I love Beagle so that's a good thing).

I love the name myself. My sister's name is Tamsyn! I've actually always liked Tam, but while in school she got saddled with Tami... which, actually, I don't mind either. I don't like it on other people, but since it's primarily associated with my sister, I don't get the same negative vibe that I do when I hear other people called Tammy. ;)

I adore the name Tamsin. I also love it as a nickname for Thomasin, but it does just fine on its own.

I love it, it reminds me of my favourite tv actress Tamsin Greig.
