[identity profile] kissokomes.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
hello!

i just joined. i'm not pregnant, nor do i plan to be anytime soon (unfortunately i have to finish school and make a good life for the invisible peanut space parasite before i allow it access to my womb) but i like names.

so for my first post, i'll post something my best friend and i were talking about last night:

Armistice.

we found it in a baby name book for boys, and we can't decide if it's totally stupid or really great.

we're thinking of listing it away under guilty pleasure names, of which i have several.

like WOLFGANG!

:D

i can't help but love that name.

so what are YOUR really shameful guilty pleasure names that you could never use, but love anyway?

I know a pretty interesting guy named Wolfgang...he goes by Rolf.

And my ultimate guilty pleasure would be Tiger Lily. How I love it so, but I know it will never be. :(

I have nothing I'm ashamed to admit to, but there are some that I like and just wouldn't use, but, again, not because of shame.

Parasite??!?

Good.

Like I said, I don't really have any guilty pleasure ones because I am ashamed of nothing.

Off of my list, the ones I like but I know I would never use because I have a very solid top five...

Aurora
Genevieve
Jennica
Keagan
Kennadie
Lilac
Roselaine
Xanthe

I have 109ish girls' names on my list, about 20 boys' names.

Me too! That's probably why I wouldn't use it, lol.

Kennadie is the name of this little girl on a tv program about some type of dwarfism. Spelled the same way, even.

I thought parasite was funny. ;)

I say 'fetus' all the time, and for some reason it really throws people off.
LIke when you play the baby shower game where you can't say baby.. I just say fetus instead. "Oh, that'll be so cute when your fetus gets here!" and "This is the best fetus shower ever!"

But yeah.. I thought it was funny. Nevermind. LOL

i am pregnant and I refer to my fetus as the parasite all the time... hell it's what is doing!!

I just think it's kind of cold. Parasite implies unwanted and harmful.

if you want it to it does... but actually it just implies something that is parasitic on a host. if you have ever been pregnant you understand..

I've never been pregnant, but I doubt I would call my baby a parasite.

To each his own.

I am pregnant and I 'understand', but personally I find the term rather rude.

ha ha!

once you feel it inside of you moving and kicking.. then you see it try and get out and abuse the insides of your body the movie Alien is very appropriate. :p
I call it that once in a while too.. the little face hugger. :p

Any name that is a guilty pleasure, I probably wouldn't hesitate to use in the middle name slot. Not many people ever find out your middle name anyway.. LOL

I really like Wolfgang, as a middle name. Armistice is interesting, prolly another I'd reduce to middle name status.

I don't have many boy guilty pleasures. Maybe Kayne, because of Kayne from PR.. but I haven't really considered it.

I love the name Madonna, but I'd never use it. I adore the singer, but she polarizes people in such a way that using the name would probably be disastrous. Plus, it's kind of like naming your kid Jesus - there's only one (or, in this case, two).

I'm in a comment-y mood today.

Chrysanthemum
Dahlia
Hannelore
Juliet
Soleil

I think that's it. I wanted to name my daughter Leah Chrysanthemum, but her dad said no. Boo. I settled for Leah Juliet.. ehh

I would have to say some of mine are Talula, Bijou and Bjork (big fan of hers).....and......damn I had another one but I forgot. I don't know if I'll ever use any of these names partically because I actually have to consider what my husband thinks about the names(haha) but I do love them.

On a side note I love Wolfgang also. I fell in love with it after I saw Amadeus YEARS ago. Wolfie is a great nickname. :)

Oh duh and I love the name Amethyst. I met a wonderful beautiful woman by that name months ago. I've always loved it but wasn't to sure if it sounded to striper-esk....but she was the beautiful professional extremely bright business woman and it totally changed my mind.

seems like we have this post every other week, lol.

For me Anastasia because I HATE the nickname Stacy.
Orion, it's a bit over the top but i think it's a very cool name.

I wanted to use Orion since Ryan was the top of my list, but a bit too common. My DH thinks Orion is just too weird, though.

Yeah, not so much a fan of Armistice. I feel like that kid would get made fun of a lot in history classes.

When I was like 13, I wanted to name all of my kids after virtues. There's still a small part of me that wants to do this. Like, have a bunch of girls and name them Felicity, Patience, Charity, Constance, Faith and Hope. I liked Justin/Justinian and Constantine for boys. Felicity is still on my regular list, though.

Uh, my other guilty pleasure is Shakespearean names. I love Beatrice, Portia, Titania, Helena, Rosalind, Bianca, Demetrius, Lysander, Antonio and Benedick, but I'm not sure if I would seriously consider using them.

Armistice as a name?? Nooooo. You know what it means, right?
The definition of Armistice is a "temporary suspension of hostilities by agreement between the opponents". It's like the middle of a war.

Luna

Unfortunatly it's more of a cat's name, and it's name of the moon goddess.
