I was reading Vanity Fair this morning and saw a headline about the name of Zooey Deschanel's daughter, whose name has been released: Elsie Otter.

In an interview, she said “We just really liked the name Elsie and then we both love otters — they’re very sweet and they’re also smart. They use tools … they hold hands while they sleep, there’s so many amazing things about otters. They’re wonderful animals.”

And in case you didn't know, Zooey herself was named after Zooey Glass, from JD Salinger's Franny and Zooey (Zooey is a guy in that story).

I think that name is pretty bad. Elsie is kind of cute, but the middle name makes me cringe. But celebrities can get away with giving their kids the wackiest names, and it's not quite as bad as some of the celebrity baby names I've seen! (Such as Audio Science...)

I really like it too, Otters are cute. I know some siblings whose middle names are Wolfe, Swan (g) and Fox (g).

Elsie (and Elsa) is getting more popular so its nice to see something unique, I don't find it weird but because she's a celebrity a lot of people seem to have strong feelings normally no one except family/friends would even know her mn.

I know a Zooey, also name after the Salinger story, and I've always kind of liked it. Otter? Not so much.

I quite like Otter as a middle name. I think it goes nicely with Elsie.
