I have no kids, and none on the horizon, but I am a self proclaimed "name dork" and like to think about future potentials. Right now my favorite girls names are Colleen Bess and Ruthann Marie. My favorite boy's name is Dustin Royd with a nn of Dusty.

I also find myself loving the names Bo (for a boy) and Dixie (for a girl). My biggest concern being...I don't know how I feel about either of them as given names, as opposed to nicknames. What do you all think? And if you think they'd be better as nicknames...what are some given names that they could be nn for, given my current preferences?

I know Beauregard would be one for Bo, but...I'm not fond of that name.

Colleen is my favorite name on this list. The others aren't my style.

Full names for Bo could be Robert or Bodhi (which means "awakening, enlightenment" in Sanskrit).

How do you pronounce Colleen? I recently realised it can also be Kah-leen, that blew my mind more than it should have. I quite like Bess reminds me of Nancy Drew books.

Ruth should make a comeback.

I like Dustin but not into Dusty. I do like Bo but Beau stands better by itself, others options Boyd, Bodhi, Bowen.

Dixie has a lot less options for given names, I think is good on its own if you live in the US. I like it as spunky middle name & could still be used as a nn.

It's my granddad's middle name and since I am incredibly close to my granddad, I would use it in his honor. It's only a middle name, so it's not like it will be used often.
