Girl's Name
Sep. 2nd, 2006 02:26 pmAfter considering the pros and cons of the name Arabella, we have decided against it. It wouldn't be a cute name for an adult woman and I hate "Bella" or "Belle" which the child would more than likely be called.
How do you feel about the name Felicity?
Also, I find it amusing (I am not offended) by how everyone reacted to my name "Rohen" and how presise I was on the pronouncation and spelling. My original longing was to pronounce it "Rohan", but everyone kept on saying "Ro-hAn" when saying it. Or I got "row-win" like the spelling Rowan. I want more of a "Ro-in". Everyone told me to spell it "Rohen" and pronounce it to sound like hen. When I say it aloud, it sounds perfect... when I try to explain it... it's a mess.

That spelling does create a sound similar to what you're describing, too ('d pronounce Rohan similarly, though, and it looks better IMO), but a point to consider would be that if it's so complicated to explain, it means the child would have to spend some time explaining it as well. However. If you love it and you're happy with it, it doesn't matter. I have to explain the pronunciation of my Hebrew name to pretty much everyone, and I can't say I mind it at all--but mainly because I love the meaning and know my parents gave it to me with such love. =)
