Twins?

Kind of an obscure question, but...

Anyone here have "twin names" set up that are actual pairs in real life, a movie, book or something? IE: You'd name twins Adam and Eve, Jack and Rose, Thelma and Louise, etc.? I might be the only one who thinks that's a cute way to honor folks, but...

One comes to mind for me immediately: Pauline and Juliet. Ten points to anyone who knows where those are from.

Jack and Rose is a possibility (Titanic). Kate and Melanie (Winslet and Lynskey) is too. Kate and Johnny (Winslet and Depp). Helen and Mary (my grandmothers). Marianne and Elinor (Sense and Sensibility).

Someone here said Lilah and Wesley (from Angel), which I thought was sheer brilliance.

Others:
Satine and Christian
Margaret and Pierre
Winifred and Wesley
Sara and Gilbert
Lily and James
James and Molly (from a song)

PS: Parker & Hulme?

I think it was me who said Wesley and Lilah. They're still my most favorite fictional couple of all time, and they have great names. None of my other favorite couples have names quite as awesome, really. :(

Aw, Sara and Gilbert. Although I find B/G twins that are couples kind of disturbing and implicating of incest. =/

well, this isn't a pair, but if I ever have boy-girl twins I am naming them Arik and Sharona after Ariel Sharon :)

poor jasmine. i don't get where the 3some comes from, so i am probably missing everything completely, but connor and cordelia are both nice strong names and jasmine is so flaky to me.

I hate, hate, HATE that idea. Children are not objects and you might think it's cute for them to have matchy-cutey "set" names but even if they come in a pair, they won't be together in a pair for the rest of their lives. Twins are just as much individuals as single babies.

Well, I guess I'm somewhat doing that for real.. my son is Sawyer, and if we have another boy he will probably be Finley, Finn for short. (Tom) Sawyer and (Huck) Finn. Not something I did on purpose.. just liked the name Finley and realized the assocation after the fact.

My friend would joke that if she had twin boys and then LOST THE WILL TO LIVE a la Padme from SW, she'd name her children Alexander and Hesphaistion. :-P

But it's a joke so no-one freak out please!!

First one I thought of was Jack and Diane. I wonder why no one else has mentioned this pair.

Like I mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] cold_still_life, I've loved Wesley and Lilah for twins since I fell in love with the couple on Angel. No other couples have really lent their names to me, though. Jack and Elizabeth (Pirates of the Caribbean) could be nice, though, especially since it's not quite so smack-you-in-the-face obvious. I don't think I could ever name twins after real-life celebrity couples, though, especially since those crash and burn so often.

Speaking as a twin, I just wanted to agree with Maude up there. It's not as though you have to match twins - they come matched. That's sort of the point. Plus, a lot of these suggestions are a little... incestuous? I'd be super weirded out if I were named Juliet and my brother were Romeo, you know? And I bet I wouldn't be the only one in my life who was!

Pauline and Juliet are from Heavenly Creatures, which I am still bloody unable to get ahold of on DVD! Argh! *pulls hair* Couldn't they also end up Yvonne and Juliet? As for IRL twins, I have grown up with some:

Amy and Laura
Chloe and Manuella
Kimberley and Natalie
Lydia and Nadine
Michael and Scott
Christoper and Michael (Chris and Mike)
Patricia and Paulette (mid-fifties)

I'm not for naming twins too matching, like Joshua and Joanna or something. In fact, I don't like too matching names for siblings either - Big Brother this year featured a Bonnie whose brother was called Clyde.

Harry & Hermione? that would be atrocious, IMO.

truly though, as long as it wasn't smack you in the face obvious (or incestuous) I think that two names from the same 'place' are ok.

I considered Ada & Ruby, did ask if it would be too much but nobody got the reference* so hmm guess not.

*female characters in Cold Mountain - though that's not why I like either name.
