Thoughts on the spelling of Emmalee?

I know it's kinda really jumping over into the realm of kre8tiv which is really somethig i dislike fundamentally but what if the point of it is to use the spelling of "lee" like that to honor a family member? More acceptable under those circumstances? Why do I feel like it sounds almost "country" when spelled Emmalee instead of Emily?

Don't care for it but it's not the worst thing you could do. If it has strong meaning for you, go for it. We have an Emily went with the spelling "Emilie" to honor our families' French heritage.
