[identity profile] how-obscure.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
A week or so ago, I overheard the names of two small girls (sisters) while out to dinner: Beatrice and Rosie. Assuming Rosie is a nickname for Rose, I think the sibset is lovely.

A few days ago, I overheard the names of two elementary school age brothers: Bruce and Maximilian. Neither name is my style, and I feel like the set is off-balance because of the difference in length.

Two days ago, my sister-in-law told me the name of her friend's relatively new baby: Landon. Big brother is Josiah. I really like Josiah, and I really don't care for Landon. They seem like two totally different styles as well.

Finally, yesterday, my sister-in-law, knowing I love names, sent me a message about meeting a toddler girl named Charlotte. She thinks the name is lovely. I think it's really nice as well. In fact, it is a former favorite.

Thoughts?

Charlotte is definitely one of my favorites.

I'm not a fan of Landon, though I know one adorable little boy who fits the name to a T. Older brother's name is Braydon (which I absolutely loathe... the name, not the kid lol)

Beatrice and Rosie are a very cute sibset. Bruce and Maximilian are defnitely NMS.

Beatrice and Rosie are super cute. Normally I really don't like Beatrice. Rosie could be short for a number of things, though: Rose, Rosalie, Rosemary, Rose-Marie, Rosamund...)

I like it when siblings have different styled names :)

I would guess that a Landon/Josiah sibset is in the South--if you look at NameMapper on BNW, both names are disproportionately popular there. Also, both names are currently top 100, so they have a similar popularity profile, especially in terms of popularity curve. I can see them appealing to the same kind of people who want something "fresh" but also "clearly male", which is not as big a category as you might think, with all the unisex naming going on.

I like the name Charlotte, only because I like the nickname Lottie.

Charlotte is one of my favorites. I like Josiah, but I have a cousin named Josiah. Landon is ok and I'm not fond of the others.
