[identity profile] lipsty.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
A previous post has set me thinking about bad spellings and if your parents saddled you with a badly spelt name, would you change it? I think that I most definitely would, but I wouldn't want to offend my parents; I guess it would depend how badly it was spelt and if you'd learnt to live with it as a kid. I know a Aleesha who has a PhD and I just think that even with Dr. in front of her name, it looks like a mess - I'd definitely change it. I also know a Keeliegh whose dad accidentally misspelled her name and she hasn't changed it because it's the name he gave her and she fiercely defends it.

My brother-in-law, David, decided a few years ago to spell his name Dayv. I thought that it was a phase, but he's 28 and still doing it. I can't bring myself to write it down so I address all his cards to David.

I was meant to be Donelle Sheree. Thanks to Dad, I'm a Donnelle Cheree.
