I was filling a shelf in the shop I work at and overheard a woman call her daughter over to her. The daughter's name was Evangeline, pronounced Ee-van-jel-een. I don't like it, personally.
That isn't exactly how I would pronounce it, but that's probably just a small difference in phonetic spellings.
Evangeline is actually a fairly popular/common name, and has been for awhile. I think it's really pretty, and I would use it. It's quite high on my list of baby names, but I have it filed under Middle Names.
