Yesterday, I met a little boy named Aslan.  His mother said it more like "Az-lin" than "Az-lan", but I asked, "Aslan?  Like the lion from Narnia?" (in an upbeat way), and she said "Yes.  I've only met one: him."

I'm sure it sounds crazy in the abstract, but the name actually fit the kid.  I'm not sure how, but it did.  And as far as literary namesakes go, this one has pretty much nothing but good connotations, like Atticus does.

My old boss is called Aslan and it fits him perfectly - he's 6'2" and from New Zealand. I think it's an actual Turkish name, meaning lion, which must have been where CS Lewis got it for the book.
