Aug. 21st, 2006 08:47 amSo, after waiting for freaking EVER, we're finally sorta TTC (yay!) We've had our names picked out for about a year now, we're all set for a girl, but all of a sudden I kind of fell out of love with our boy pick;
Tristan Calvin...
Calvin is a must, it's my SO's late grandfather, so it stays. I'm just not as excited about Tristan as I used to be...especially with this new trend of people choosing it for their girls for some crazy reason. And now of course I don't like ANYTHING else we think of. I feel sort of luke-warm about Gavin..but not loving it. I tend to favor Irish-type names (or even ones that just kinda sound it), anyone have any suggestions? I don't like super-popular names (so Aiden is out), and I don't like Declan. Also can't use Liam because it's my son's middle name. I know we have plenty of time, considering we don't even have an embryo to name yet (maybe soon though!), but it's fun to choose/discuss nonetheless!
So yeah..any Irish/Scottish/Old English-sounding boy name suggestions? Last name will be Anderson. Thanks in advance :)

* I'm really not sure about -an/-en -in -on in combination either. But see what you think.

Date: 2006-08-21 02:17 pm (UTC)Lachlan Calvin
Sean Calvin
Barclay Calvin
Bran Calvin
Brennan Calvin
Brody Calvin
Doran Calvin
Duane Calvin
Gerard Calvin
Lucas Calvin
Patrick Calvin
Rory Calvin
Ryan Calvin
Seamus Calvin
As bopeepsheep said, I'm not entirely sold on the -an -en -in -on with Calvin, but I think a few sound ok. Of those I listed, Sean Calvin is my favorite. I also like Lucas Calvin and Ryan Calvin.

Date: 2006-08-21 06:44 pm (UTC)I agree with the above poster, Tristan is sort of dying down, plus it was mainly overused for girls for some reason anyways, if you truly love the name, go for it. It's not like you're considering Aiden ;)

Date: 2006-08-21 07:24 pm (UTC)he wanted my dd to be named Tristan (I said it's a boy name)
if she was a boy she was going to be Gavin(now I am lukewarm about it & think it's getting too overused - once it makes it onto the monograms in the Pottery Barn kids catalog, I refuse to consider it)
Declan is what we're most likely going to use if this one's a boy
and dh said no to Liam bc it's already in his family
Lachlan - personally love this one.
