My partner and I are having a spelling debate on a name for our soon-to-be-born baby.

Clio, or Cleo? It would be pronounced KLEE-oh.

Argument for Clio: more traditional spelling
Argument for Cleo: more common US spelling

For what it's worth, initials would be CMP and the last name is eastern European. We both have pretty well-mixed heritages.

ETA: We live in the US

I too am in the US and I'm used to Cleo. Clio does look a bit off to me, BUT on the other hand I wouldn't have a problem with pronouncing it at all. It's pretty phonetic. So I think in your case it's whatever YOU prefer.

Okay, I just saw the debate for Cly-oh. I wouldn't make this error personally, but the others are right in saying that some might. I still don't think it's a big deal, and that corrected once it would be fine.

And by the way....I almost forgot to congratulate you on your upcoming baby girl!!! :) Yay mama!! <3
