My name is Jenifer (with one N, even) and I don't like it.

As a kid, did you ever read "Nothing's Fair in Fifth Grade"? The narrator's name is "Jenifer" with one N...although people call her "Jenny" (though I suppose she could've been "Jeni"?) At any rate, it was the one and only time in my childhood - or since, really - that I ever encountered a "Jenifer" and for some reason it's always stuck in my head :-/

[livejournal.com profile] gladly_beyond, them be fightin' words! My name is Joanna Barbara, TWO of your hates! People often tend to call me Jo, which makes me think of either Nancy McKeon in "The Facts of Life" or the sister in Little Women...

Although, in my defense, my parents had a reason...they wanted a name that would be spelled and pronounced exactly the same way in both Polish and English, so their relatives back in the "old country" could relate to the new baby. And, needless to say, there aren't too many names you can do that with... :-/

I don't bother with names I'm tired of seeing or bored with. Those aren't worthy of hate imo. Nor do I include bad-association names since those are about the people and not the names. It's just about sounds, meanings, or associations.
