In Mexico there was no law that allowed you to change your name. Your name is your name is your name and it doesn't change. Not even in marriage (though you can opt to add "de [last name of groom]. But just a couple of years ago they passed a law changing that so people now can change their name... and they did it on the basis of parents giving their kids really stupid names.
