A child named Wolfgang would be named after a very noble historical figure. A child with the name Payne would be named after a horrible sensation people feel when hurt.. With a slight spelling variation. Really no comparison. haha.
I'm not sure about Thatcher.. i think it could grow on me though.
To play devils advocate, actually without the sensation of pain the human body would essentially self destruct. Pain is our livlihood in that it tells us when the body can handle no more and therefore, although it hurts, should be celebrated for keeping us safe.
Having said that, I'd never name my child pain or payne or any other variation.=)
