What do you think of Thatcher Payne for a boy?  I love both names and thought hell why not make a name out of them.

Payne is the cruelest, worst, most terrible name one could ever inflict on a child.

Thatcher is okay. I like surnames (my son is a Jackson) but it's not very high. I prefer Tucker, Taylor, Tanner, etal, but Thatcher is all right. It's hard for me to say (I have a bit of a Southern accent), but it's not terrible.

A child named Wolfgang would be named after a very noble historical figure. A child with the name Payne would be named after a horrible sensation people feel when hurt.. With a slight spelling variation. Really no comparison. haha.

I'm not sure about Thatcher.. i think it could grow on me though.

Thatcher Pain. Yes, he'll amuse any passing Brits for hours with that one.

I really don't like either part, sorry. Surnames/occupational names as first names really don't do it for me. It's all very 18th century.

Or a spelling variation of another very noble historical figure: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Paine

To play devils advocate, actually without the sensation of pain the human body would essentially self destruct. Pain is our livlihood in that it tells us when the body can handle no more and therefore, although it hurts, should be celebrated for keeping us safe.

Having said that, I'd never name my child pain or payne or any other variation.=)

Wow, that's an awful name all round. I think you've heard an earful about Thatcher in a previous post. And I agree with the first commenter - naming someone Payne looks like a sick joke.

haha!!! Thanks for that. "We named you Pain because it's important!" Just kidding.

To the OP--I like Thatcher but not Payne. And I have a german cousin named Wolfgang. It's not so awful in Germany.

um no? I don't really care for either name to be quite honest. But I could probably tolerate either of them with a more traditional name as a middle name. If I had to choose, I'd pick Payne over Thatcher.

Payne as in pain? No way! Thatcher is definitely not my style, but it's not horrible.

Payne makes me think of the movie Major Payne with Damon Wayans.
Thatcher is okay, although it sounds kind of like a soap opera character.

I beg to differ, Wolfgang is a great name in the country from whence it came. Payne is bordering on abusive.

I strongly disagree.

If I were a man I would much rather be named Wolfgang than Pain.

Or Thatcher. Or Aydyn or Caiden and all that crap, for that matter.

you have to be careful what you pair Thatcher with, since if you say it fast it sounds like "that your___." It needs to go with a word that ISN'T a noun, or doesn't sound like a noun. So Thatcher Payne sounds like "(is) that your pain?" I think it's a very stupid and awful name combination. I know a lot of people hate both names individually, and I don't; I think they're ok one OR the other. but DEFINITELY not both at once!

Substitute Stalin. Does it sound like such a great idea then? History will care about Thatcher, whether you do or not.
