Payne is the cruelest, worst, most terrible name one could ever inflict on a child.

Thatcher is okay. I like surnames (my son is a Jackson) but it's not very high. I prefer Tucker, Taylor, Tanner, etal, but Thatcher is all right. It's hard for me to say (I have a bit of a Southern accent), but it's not terrible.

I beg to differ, Wolfgang is the worst name someone could ever give a child.

A child named Wolfgang would be named after a very noble historical figure. A child with the name Payne would be named after a horrible sensation people feel when hurt.. With a slight spelling variation. Really no comparison. haha.

I'm not sure about Thatcher.. i think it could grow on me though.

To play devils advocate, actually without the sensation of pain the human body would essentially self destruct. Pain is our livlihood in that it tells us when the body can handle no more and therefore, although it hurts, should be celebrated for keeping us safe.

Having said that, I'd never name my child pain or payne or any other variation.=)

To the OP--I like Thatcher but not Payne. And I have a german cousin named Wolfgang. It's not so awful in Germany.

I really don't like either part, sorry. Surnames/occupational names as first names really don't do it for me. It's all very 18th century.

Wow, that's an awful name all round. I think you've heard an earful about Thatcher in a previous post. And I agree with the first commenter - naming someone Payne looks like a sick joke.

um no? I don't really care for either name to be quite honest. But I could probably tolerate either of them with a more traditional name as a middle name. If I had to choose, I'd pick Payne over Thatcher.

you have to be careful what you pair Thatcher with, since if you say it fast it sounds like "that your___." It needs to go with a word that ISN'T a noun, or doesn't sound like a noun. So Thatcher Payne sounds like "(is) that your pain?" I think it's a very stupid and awful name combination. I know a lot of people hate both names individually, and I don't; I think they're ok one OR the other. but DEFINITELY not both at once!
