[Poll #789901]
I recently saw the movie Evita, and I've absolutely fallen in love with the name Eva. My only issue with it is that I have a feeling that most people will pronounce it the Anglicized way, like Eve with an a at the end, rather than the Spanish way, kind of like Ava. To keep the pronunciation that I want, I'm thinking that I should just use Ava, which is already on my list, though I do like Eva.
As a standard disclaimer, children are a long, long way off for me. I'm just really into names (and Evita).

Date: 2006-08-11 03:40 am (UTC)Ay-vah is closer to the Spanish pronunciation of the name than Eve-ah, which is apparently how most people in the US pronounce it. Evita is about Eva Perón, one of the First Ladies of Argentina, and most of the characters in the movie pronounced her name similar to Ay-vah, though the Ay isn't drawled out quite as much.
