I recently saw the movie Evita, and I've absolutely fallen in love with the name Eva. My only issue with it is that I have a feeling that most people will pronounce it the Anglicized way, like Eve with an a at the end, rather than the Spanish way, kind of like Ava. To keep the pronunciation that I want, I'm thinking that I should just use Ava, which is already on my list, though I do like Eva.

As a standard disclaimer, children are a long, long way off for me. I'm just really into names (and Evita).

Eva is not pronounced like Ava in Spanish.

it is pronounced with an E likes in "yes".

Agreed, the Spanish is somewhere in between option 2 and option 3. Ava has a much longer A sound.

With my accent, they sound the same (Ava vs. e from yes). :/ I mean, I know that the first syllable isn't as drawn out in Spanish, but, otherwise, they are essentially the same.

I'm not really concerned about people having the perfect Spanish accent, though. I'm more concerned about people pronouncing it like EE-va.

well then I agree with others and say to just use Ava because Eva wouldnt be pronouced like that.
