I was unfortunate enough to hate my birth name and got it changed twice, which was a pretty difficult process, but since then I've been interested in what other people might consider for themselves!

I'm not sure if this is a little out-of-topic, but I'm extremely curious to know: what would you rename yourself, if you absolutely had to, and why? both first and last names would be preferable--thinking up a new surname was pretty much the hardest part for me, haha

I dunno about middle names, but these are the first names I would most likely choose from:

Noah
Piper
Kirby
Milo
October
Scout

I always thought short, spunky names would fit my personality best. My actual name is Jessica Faith, which I don't mind at all.. though I was born in 1986 so there are a TON of Jessica's around my age.

My name is Rebecca Michelle Levi.

I would never change the Rebecca part of it. I LOVE it! I like Michelle well enough, but when I got married I considered changing it to Vivian, after my maternal grandmother. I just left it Michelle though. Levi is my husband's last name. I wanted to have the same last name so that our kids will have the same last name as both of us. If I wouldn't have gotten married, I probably would have changed my last name to Burns at some point. It's my maternal grandmother's maiden name. Obviously I really love my grandma!

So yeah, if I was going to change my name it would be to Rebecca Vivian Burns.

(If I absolutely HAD to change my first name, I would change it to Audrey.)

I'm still debating on if I will actually be changing my name or not but the name would be absolute: Remy Mignonette Serafini, for my son. He died of SIDS and I thought about naming my daughter that when she was born, but decided it might be too heavy for her. For me though, it would be a comfort to hear his name all the time. Remy was his actual first name, Mignonette was the middle name I came up with when I was considering it for a girl's name, and Serafini means angel, which is what he is now. So it would quite literally be "Remy Angel".

I really like my name: Laura (classic, not tricky except that I don't like when it's pronounced "Lara" nor "Lora," not as common as it was when I was in school, a name in both English and Spanish--I speak both languages) Caitlin (ahead of the trend, named by my 100% Irish grandmother). I have a common last name that begins with a "A," but it isn't a bad last name and it's my last name.

But if I had to change it under duress, I would choose Helen (my mom's middle name, after her aunt, and could be altered to "Elena" for the Spanish form) Jane (I like the name and my grandpa used to call me Laura Jane for some reason).

I do like my name, but it's a bit classier than I am. If I had to change it, I would either pick a guy's name: Ryan, Kyle, Lee, Sam; or something quirky: Sapphire, Harley Jane.

For last names, I also like quirky, compound names, like Goodnight. So, Harley Jane Goodnight? Heh.

my name is Anna Marie - which my father blantantly stole from my maternal grandmother. i love my gran, don't get me wrong but it's not me.

if i had to go for a full name i'd use Ayala Zoe Tiresias. i've always found Ayala and Zoe as pretty, and Tiresias is from my fascination with ancient cultures. i've been using Anamika as a penname, just the one name. it literally means 'without a name' but in Hindi culture it means the child future is what she wants it to be.

At least in America, if you're getting (sadly, only legally) married, a name change is FREE! For Driver's License, passport, college degrees, SSN card, bills... etc. It's time consuming, but wonderful. And they don't make you run any newspaper adds, because (I guess) they assume that with marriage comes you telling a ton of people. I was not so inclined to share.

I was born and named Nicole Lee H--------.
I got married and decided to switch the whole thing up: Coco Lee F-----.
I kept my middle name because it is my Grandmother's middle name (and my husband's mother's middle name) and I actually really like it. But I never went by Nicole. I always went by Nikkie anyways... and still do at home and with my 2 close friends that I've had since before then. But my husband's family, all my nieces and nephews, co-workers... basically everyone calls me Coco.
(BTW - "Coco" was a nickname bestowed upon me when my youngest sister started talking and couldn't say "Nicole", so she called me Coco and it stuck. 20 years later it's still me. To the core.) :-D

My name is Sarah and don't like it very much because it seems so plain to me. I would change is to Guinevere or Lumen.
