[identity profile] laminy.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I had a dream the other night, in which I gave birth to a baby girl, but while I was in my pain/drug-haze, my parents took the opportunity to name her Oregana Roman Shiloh. Trust me, my dream-self was just as disgusted, lol. Thank god it was just a dream.

I remember planning to keep the Shiloh, which I like, and changing Roman to Romola to keep the same meaning, while using a name I also really like. Can't remember what the heck I was going to do with Oregana, though (it was pronounced like Oregano, except ending with the A instead of the O, if you were wondering).

Also, a co-worker just had a baby, a son, named Jax. My nephew's baby cousin on the other side of the family is also named Jax, so maybe it's becoming a popular thing now? Maybe everybody is watching Sons of Anarchy? Either way, I think it's so ugly.

LOL I like your dream. Oregana reminds me of Bail Organa from Star Wars, and course, Oregano.

I really dislike Jax. It reminds me of Mortal Kombat every time I hear it. And I even like playing Mortal Kombat (well Jax DOES suck).

LOL OH DEAR GOD. If that were the case, I'd be naming my daughter Mileena (since she's my favorite).

Haha, oh man, that's bad. Raiden isn't nice, you're right about that.

I wonder if non-naming enthusiasts have these sort of naming nightmares...

I think Jax could be a cute nn, but only a nickname. I don't like it as a full name at all.

I just wish that I would have one of these dreams. I love reading what everyone else's subconscious comes up with. I want to see what mine does!

I know, right? I've had a couple of dreams but they're few and far between. Let's see, I believe the names were Cereal Roberts and Vacuum. I also dreamed up a nice combo one time -- Carlotta Sophia.

Oh, Carlotta Sophia is lovely! I would like to think that even in sleep I have a semblance of good taste. Maybe because I am so rigidly in love with my favorite names (Iris and Landon) that even in a dream state I wouldn't budge.

You only think you want these dreams. I named my twins daughters Bob. Both of them. It was the weirdest dream ever.

Jax is a guilty pleasure of mine. I really like it as a nn for Jackson, which is also a guilty pleasure, since I don't normally like last names as first names.

Your dream made me laugh. Or should I say, your nightmare. :)

I like Jack and Jackson but I hate Jax/Jaxon/Jaxson.

I think that's funny that you dreamed of your parents stepping in and naming your kid. If my parents named my kid, they'd probably just name it something really boring (not bad boring, luckily, I like their taste for the most part). What's hilarious is that my parents are hippies but like very normal names (I'm Melissa and my sister is Emily) and think my favorite names (like Iris, Raine, Meadow, Cadence, Haven) are mostly too "out there."

Shiloh is such a guilty pleasure of mine although I know I would never use it. And I do like Roman or Romain but on a boy obviously.

Oh and ICON LOVE!

Don't like Jax either. Except for the guy who plays Jax in SOA - definitely like him, lol.

Haha, sounds like a crazy dream!

I've never given my (fictional) children in my dreams unusual names, but I once dreamed that someone I knew was naming her kid Aladdison. She liked Allison and Addison so much that she couldn't choose, so she mashed them together! I told her it sounded like Aladdin, but she ignored me.

Jack, Jackson, and Jaz are very popular right now. Blech.
