Jun. 7th, 2011 12:40 pmI had a dream the other night, in which I gave birth to a baby girl, but while I was in my pain/drug-haze, my parents took the opportunity to name her Oregana Roman Shiloh. Trust me, my dream-self was just as disgusted, lol. Thank god it was just a dream.
I remember planning to keep the Shiloh, which I like, and changing Roman to Romola to keep the same meaning, while using a name I also really like. Can't remember what the heck I was going to do with Oregana, though (it was pronounced like Oregano, except ending with the A instead of the O, if you were wondering).
Also, a co-worker just had a baby, a son, named Jax. My nephew's baby cousin on the other side of the family is also named Jax, so maybe it's becoming a popular thing now? Maybe everybody is watching Sons of Anarchy? Either way, I think it's so ugly.

Date: 2011-06-07 05:50 pm (UTC)I think Jax could be a cute nn, but only a nickname. I don't like it as a full name at all.

Date: 2011-06-07 07:20 pm (UTC)I think that's funny that you dreamed of your parents stepping in and naming your kid. If my parents named my kid, they'd probably just name it something really boring (not bad boring, luckily, I like their taste for the most part). What's hilarious is that my parents are hippies but like very normal names (I'm Melissa and my sister is Emily) and think my favorite names (like Iris, Raine, Meadow, Cadence, Haven) are mostly too "out there."

Date: 2011-06-08 08:16 am (UTC)I've never given my (fictional) children in my dreams unusual names, but I once dreamed that someone I knew was naming her kid Aladdison. She liked Allison and Addison so much that she couldn't choose, so she mashed them together! I told her it sounded like Aladdin, but she ignored me.
