Yeah I know, but it's not pronounced the same and we are not in any way Spanish. Also, it would only be a nickname.

i agree with in_the_starlite. the prefix mal means bad in english too. malnutrition, malfunction, malpractice, malformation, etc. it has a definite negativity.
