(no subject)

I've been kind of wondering about this name lately. It's not on my list (yet), but I'm starting to like it a little bit more. (And [livejournal.com profile] itcouldbelove, STFU ;) Hahaha, I know what you're going to say!)

Gillian is too close to Gilligan for me, when looking at it. :)

Love the name Jillian though. 'Jilly' was suggested to me by someone since my name is Jen and the hubby is Billy, LMAO.

I like Jillian better b/c it matches the pronunciation and looks prettier to me.

I like Gillian better, it just looks right to me. But I think Jillian is better if a nickname will be used.

Gillian looks like Gilligan mispelled.

And if you call her 'Jill', 'Gill' won't quite work.

Completely agreed!!

I hate it.

I prefer Gillian, but I agree that Gill as a nickname spelling doesn't work. However, I'm really opposed to nicknames in general, so I'd still stick with Gillian.

This may just be me, but when I see it with a G I think of Gilligan.

Oh, Jillian, for sure.

[identity profile] sarahrose.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Jillian. I knew one once, and it just stuck. G's to me are very hard, and I can't seem to get that out of my head.

I love the icon you picked for this. Hahaha. Made me smile. ;-)

[identity profile] sayga.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
me too. gillian in my head always sounds like gill-ee-an (the gill being like a fish gill). jillian is the only was i would ever spell it.

[identity profile] calixbat.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I like Gillian, then again I know someone who I dont like named Jillian and my aunts name is Gillian.

[identity profile] arbus.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
i have a close friend named gillian and she gets called gillian (with a hard g - as in fish have gills) ALL THE TIME. it drives her insane. on the other hand, there are people who pronounce it that way. but if youre going for the sound of jillian, my advice would be to stick with the j, even though it looks better with a g, imo.

[identity profile] miss-tee.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
I know a Gillian who pronounces it like the G in fish gills.

Hey now! Don't tell me to shut up!

LOL, okay, so... before Gillian Anderson, I would've probably said Jillian. 'Cause I knew a Gillian, who was younger than me in school, and when I first heard her name was spelled with a "G" I was like, WTF, right? But now I couldn't get it out of my head that it's supposed to be a G, not a J.

That being said, if Jill was to be a nickname, I would never use Gillian. And as far as I know, Gillian Anderson never goes by Gill--Gilly, yes, but not Gill. So her G works.

And I'm not even really sure if anyone but fans call her Gilly--but I know she has a Gilly Box, which is the boxes she stood on sometimes during the filming of XF because she's so damn short, hahaha.

So yeah, uhm, if she is going to go by Gillian always, I'd use a G. If she's going to go by Jill, I would use a J. Because Gill looks like Gil which reminds me of CSI, haha.

[identity profile] x-lostinyou.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, haha. CSI = ♥.

[identity profile] itcouldbelove.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I've only vaguely heard the Gilly Boxes referenced once, as far as I can recall, but I'm pretty sure that it's like... officially what the crew called them, HAHA. Oh man. Good stuff. SHE'S A MIDGET! I was watching season 3 bloopers on YouTube today and there's one where she is bending down to adjust her Gilly Box and then she stands up and they begin the scene and she turns around to and stumbles on it and starts cracking up. David makes fun of her, though you can't hear it very well. It's pretty amusing.

[identity profile] lostrocket.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
You know she's standing on a box when her and Mulder can rest their foreheads together without him being bent over double.

Now I want to go watch bloopers...

[identity profile] itcouldbelove.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, yep, that pretty much sums it up. Every time her head is above his shoulder, she's either wearing MASSIVE heels or she's standing on a box, LOL.

[identity profile] lostrocket.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
IAWTC. I like it better with a G but if you want to use a nickname go with J, so you have Jill and not Gill.

Unless of course you're naming a fish.

[identity profile] x-lostinyou.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
My cousin's name is spelled that way, and I like it. It doesn't really matter how the NN is spelled to me, because honestly, how often do you write that down? My cousin's mom also calls her Gigi as her nickname anyway, which works better than Jiji, haha. She also calls her Gillybean (prn. like Jillybean, though.)

[identity profile] thorabrighid.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
i've always thought gillian was gil-e-in haha.

[identity profile] hermionesparkle.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
Jillian! I like the spelling and I've always thought it looked nicer when put down on paper.
