I've been kind of wondering about this name lately. It's not on my list (yet), but I'm starting to like it a little bit more. (And itcouldbelove, STFU ;) Hahaha, I know what you're going to say!)

LOL, okay, so... before Gillian Anderson, I would've probably said Jillian. 'Cause I knew a Gillian, who was younger than me in school, and when I first heard her name was spelled with a "G" I was like, WTF, right? But now I couldn't get it out of my head that it's supposed to be a G, not a J.

That being said, if Jill was to be a nickname, I would never use Gillian. And as far as I know, Gillian Anderson never goes by Gill--Gilly, yes, but not Gill. So her G works.

And I'm not even really sure if anyone but fans call her Gilly--but I know she has a Gilly Box, which is the boxes she stood on sometimes during the filming of XF because she's so damn short, hahaha.

So yeah, uhm, if she is going to go by Gillian always, I'd use a G. If she's going to go by Jill, I would use a J. Because Gill looks like Gil which reminds me of CSI, haha.

Yeah, I don't like Gill for Gillian, but I'm not a big fan of Jillian...it's weird.

I've only vaguely heard the Gilly Boxes referenced once, as far as I can recall, but I'm pretty sure that it's like... officially what the crew called them, HAHA. Oh man. Good stuff. SHE'S A MIDGET! I was watching season 3 bloopers on YouTube today and there's one where she is bending down to adjust her Gilly Box and then she stands up and they begin the scene and she turns around to and stumbles on it and starts cracking up. David makes fun of her, though you can't hear it very well. It's pretty amusing.

Haha, yep, that pretty much sums it up. Every time her head is above his shoulder, she's either wearing MASSIVE heels or she's standing on a box, LOL.

IAWTC. I like it better with a G but if you want to use a nickname go with J, so you have Jill and not Gill.

Unless of course you're naming a fish.
