*I have a particular love for this name, for the sole reason of Shakespeare’s play “Titus Andronicus” in which the character Lavinia is raped, and has her tongue and hands cut off so that she cannot tell anyone what happened to her, or who did it. Despite this, she manages to find a way to express herself and writes her tragedy in the dirt with a stick held in her mouth and stumps. Although I love the message of survival behind the name, I’m not sure I could ever bring myself to name my child this. It also surprises me that Ophelia has become so popular recently, as she was quite made and committed suicide of sorts by drowning herself in a brook. It does have a beautiful sound to it though
