Jul. 25th, 2006 11:01 pmEarlier today I was reading a magazine which had a pic of Mayim Bialik (from the show Blossom).
I asked my boyfriend how do you pronounce Mayim.
"MY-eem" he said.
I said "Wow, I can't decide if I really love that name or if can't stand it cos it's too much."
I've said it to myself so many times that it as lost all meaning.
I think I may be falling in like with it, but I just can't tell yet.
So what do you think of Mayim?
(BTW Mayim means "water" in Hebrew)

Date: 2006-07-26 03:16 am (UTC)I always read it as may-ihm like it's spelled, and I like *that* pronunciation. Not a fan of MY-eem.

Date: 2006-07-28 06:28 pm (UTC)It was pretty much the way I was pronouncing Mayim.
The first part is like the Mei in Mei Tei kinda and the last is eem but not too stressing on the "ee"s.
I am not Israeli but neither do I come from a Yiddish backround or speak Yiddish. I am a convert to Judaism so the Hebrew I learn to speak is the more Israeli/Sephardi Hebrew.
