What do you think of,

-Lina, pronounced Lee-na.

-Noé(m), pronounced No-ay. It's French for Noah.

I like both. I must say I definitely prefer Noé on a girl, though. I guess because I've only seen it on a girls so far, and because it reminds me of Zoé and Chloé.

Perhaps it's a Dutch thing! Names ending in é are definitely female here =).

Lina is cute but the sound it makes sometimes hurts my ears (if that makes sense at all).

WTF is Noé?

OIC. It just seems like an attempt at being 'unique'. That's what all these creative spellings have done to me! I can't even recognise actual names!

I think they're both great names.

Do you mean Noé is pronounced like "No-ay"? I would feel weird pronouncing the é as an "eh" but maybe you meant otherwise.

I really like the name Noémie though. Lina is really pretty.

I know a salvadoran gentleman by the name of Noe, but he pronounces it "No." I must say I like the pronunciation of No-ay better. Love Lina!

I hear 'no-way' and so I don't like it terribly. Lina is more my style.

I like Lena and the other makes me think "no way!" So it doesn't work, I guess.

Noé is okay, but I don't like Lina.

Okay, now [livejournal.com profile] melly_issa has me thinking of it as "no way". =/
It's still okay, if living amongst a French speaking population.

I like Lina, along with a bunch of other similar-sounding short names (Mira, Mila, Mina, Lia, etc.). I think it could have made it onto my list if my husband hadn't already vetoed it. It's relatively common in Sweden, where he's from, and he just has some not-so-great personal associations with it from people he's known. I think it's a simple, pretty, can't-go-wrong-with-it kind of name. :)

I'm not as crazy about Noé, and it does make me think "no way" as well. :-/

Lina to me is a nickname for Evelina, but that's probably because my mother is Swedish. I really like it!
