2. I like behindthename.com and babynamespedia.com as well as the SSA website when I want to check popularity.

1. I like making lists with some sort of theme, or with a distinct style in mind. Then, I dig around the internet to find more names that fit and try out names I wouldn't otherwise consider.

2. I recently discovered Appellation Mountain (http://appellationmountain.net/), and I'm a big fan of the Sunday Summaries, because I get a nice overview of the great things that are happening on a bunch of different name-oriented sites.
