[identity profile] spaceandclouds.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

In one of the previous posts, the name "Helisent" occurred. Since I was intrigued, I did some googling, and it led me to this: legitbabenames.wordpress.com/category/inuit-names/ website. Very interesting!

It has common names like Elizabeth, Catherine and Nicholas as they are used in different countries, languages and time periods. According to that website, "Helisent" is a Medieval form of "Elizabeth"! I quite like it.

Since it appears to be some kind of blog, I can't guarantee that what's on there is correct, but I thought it was fascinating nonetheless.

That name caught my attention, too! I started doing some research to see how legitimate it was, since I'd never heard it before, but I got pulled away from it almost immediately, then went on my lunch break and just completely forgot. I found it very striking, but the fact that it seems like someone saying their kid was "hell-sent" is kind of a downer.

Those are both very pretty! Heh, I think I'll go with one of them.

The "AY-lee-sahn" pronunciation reminds me of the name "Alison".

I have a friend named Alyson (pronounced just like Alison in English), but call her 'Ay-lee-son' sometimes, as a tease/nickname.
