nicknames.
Jul. 20th, 2006 11:27 pmi used to never be a nickname person until recently. i think they're useful. i'd rather not name my child something that they would share with five or more other kids. but kids want to fit in with their peers, and nicknames let that happen. er... the nicknames would at least be familiar to six year olds.
i've started to like certain names just because i like their nicknames.
lucille - lucy
eloise - elly
penelope - penny
agatha - aggie
francesca - franny
louis - lou, louie
patrick - pat
abraham - abe
i wouldn't use agatha, but i think it's cute for some reason. and i love the nickname franny because of franny and zooey.
eloise and lucille are my favorite, anyway. i've liked those for forever. i've always been drawn to penelope, but never realized the nickname penny is cute until recently... i've always like francesca, but i'm not italian at all. german/irish right here. and american... i guess. >:P
