[identity profile] wykd-faerie.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
So to remind everyone, i'm not having kids for a few years, but my boyfriend and i love talking about names. I'm 22 and i love sort-of different names. We're not big on middle names because he doens't have one, but i have a few ideas.

Girls:
Autumn Christyna (spelling after my best friend)
Layla
Mandalyn (leave the name alone please, i've liked it for years now)
Serenity

Boys:
Liam Michael
Owen Michael
Nathanial Jordon
Jordon
Benji (newly added because my boyfriend liked it and i think it's cuuute and he can grow with it by going by Ben if he needs to)

any other ideas more than welcome.

I LOVE your boy's names. Liam Michael is awesome - both are on my list (but not together). I'm also in love with the name Benji. One of my closest friends has a little boy named Joshua Benji. He was almost Benji Joshua but the dad hates Benji so they compromised.

I like Jordon, but spelled JordAn and I like it better as a girl's name.

About Christyna: two wrongs don't make a right.

You can't post a name in a community for opinions and then say which ones they can and cannot comment on.

I like all your boys names, but I have to say I hate each one of the girls ones. Especially the ones with the messed up spelling. Especially Mandalyn.

I agree.

Mandalyn is so bad it's impossible to ignore, even if you tell people they're not allowed to comment on it. What's the point of posting it then?

Yeah, that comment really bothered me too. Especially since I've seen her in baby_name_snark making fun of people in this community behind their backs. Seems a little off to me.

LOL, yeah, I just went back and found that - looks she put up a poll here just to get answers that she could snark. Sure, sometimes you have to rant somewhere, but that's just lame.

It's definitely off, especially considering this list of names...

No kidding. I've seen her post many, many times there. It's just odd and very hypocritical Especially considering that, as far as I (and I'm sure most of that community) am concerned, this list is very 'snarkable' itself.

I really like your names!!! Especially Mandalyn. I would spell it Mandalynn or Mandalynne. Maybe even Mandolin. Autumn is a favorite of mine too, as is Nathaniel (that spelling, though).

You spell things however the way you want to!!! :)

I like Layla and Mandalyn, although I think it's better as a middle name. Manda is a sweet nn. If you're worried about opinions, you can name her Amanda Lynn and call her Mandalyn. :D

I love Liam, Owen and Nathanial.

Benji is a dog's name unless the person is Benjamin. Then it is great!

if someone names their kid Benji (which I know one guy named that) then it is no longer just a dog name, but a people name too

but that doesn't stop most people from associating Benji with a dog, not a person, or thinking that Benji the person has a dog name.

I hate Serenity. I see it in the birth announcements in the paper here all the time and am so sick of it. I'm just waiting for someone to bust out with Tranquility or Placidity, lol.

Autumn and Layla are okay. I surprisingly like Mandalyn. Christyna is awful but it doesn't sound like you can be swayed.

Your boys names are all acceptable, though a little too common for my taste.

would you actually use the name "Benji" or would his official name be Benjamin but everyone would always call him Benji?

Liam is one of my favorite names (:

I love Liam, Owen, and Nathanial. Jordan is ok, but I don't like the way you've spelled it. Benji could be a cute nickname for Benjamin, but I can't imagine somebody's full given name being Benji. I don't care for any of your girls names. Well, Autumn Christina is nice but I have to agree with the "two wrongs don't make a right" comment in regards to spelling it Christyna. Mandalyn is just bad. It's combining the -lyn trend with an already super-popular name (Madeleine), and it's a musical instrument!

I love the name Layla but I'm partial to the spelling Leyla or Lela (which actually isn't the same name...it's a shorter "e" and not really the "ay" sound). I might use it someday, after a loved one ;)

I won't comment specifically on the name.... but if you know people's general opinions of it enough to make the comment, "Mandalyn (leave the name alone please, i've liked it for years now)"... surely that means you have been given a fairly good indication of what life would be like for a girl/woman named Mandalyn?

I like that you want to go with Benji, I hate when people use the full name, in this case, Benjamin---JUST to use Benji as a nickname. I say go for iit.
