I originally had Thatcher as a middle name for Atticus, but I love it so much, I think I might like it as a first name too. All of these names are second, third and fourth respectively to my ultimate favorite of Adam (it will take a lot of time for me to stop loving the name).

Date: 2006-07-20 09:20 am (UTC)Deacon and Thatcher have connotations you wouldn't wish on a child (or adult), and it will take a long time for those to leave the public consciousness. Atticus is much less potentially offensive but is the name of a political column as well as just being extremely old-fashioned (and meaning 'from Athens' which I guess is fine if you're from Georgia).

Date: 2006-07-20 10:11 am (UTC)The Thatcher association was immediate; 'That's not a name, that's who took us to war over the Fawklands' ... come to think of it that probably wouldn't go down too well in America either. And the poor kid probably wouldn't made it out of Ireland alive.
Not sure about the Deacon association will have to ask my parents, lol (I'm 20, if that serves as defence)
