How do you feel about these for brothers?  Deacon, Atticus and Thatcher.

I originally had Thatcher as a middle name for Atticus, but I love it so much, I think I might like it as a first name too.  All of these names are second, third and fourth respectively to my ultimate favorite of Adam (it will take a lot of time for me to stop loving the name).

I like Thatcher better than all the others actually. Are you planning on having 4 boys? It'd be sad not to get to Thatcher after you've grown to love it so much.

They do well together. Adam is the one I think doesn't fit.

oh, and Atticus has a lot of To Kill a Mockingbird association attached for me, not sure how that would affect his growing up or whatnot

Please, never let them visit the UK if you use those names. Make them promise on your deathbed if necessary.

Deacon and Thatcher have connotations you wouldn't wish on a child (or adult), and it will take a long time for those to leave the public consciousness. Atticus is much less potentially offensive but is the name of a political column as well as just being extremely old-fashioned (and meaning 'from Athens' which I guess is fine if you're from Georgia).

My thoughts exactly!

The Thatcher association was immediate; 'That's not a name, that's who took us to war over the Fawklands' ... come to think of it that probably wouldn't go down too well in America either. And the poor kid probably wouldn't made it out of Ireland alive.

Not sure about the Deacon association will have to ask my parents, lol (I'm 20, if that serves as defence)

They do all sound good together, but ...

I don't dislike Deacon per se, but it's not a name that really does anything for me.

Totally ditto [livejournal.com profile] bopeepsheep about Thatcher, will never able to warm to that for as long as I'm an '80s born British liberal.

Atticus is a clothing brand (skater type stuff), though the literary character will probably always be the biggest association. The latter makes me like it too, but that could be a lot of baggage for a kid.

Adam is such a wonderful name, I really like it too. What's the problem with it?

The name of the clothing brand was inspired by the book; their logo features a mockingbird.

Ah right, hadn't realised that.

I LOVE THEM!!! Well, I'm not as a big of a fan of Deacon as I am of Atticus and Thatcher, but I think it sounds good with Atticus and Thatcher and it's more of a personal dislike than an "oh my God that name is horrible" dislike.

I really like those together! I'm not a huge fan of Thatcher, but Deacon and Atticus are great and Thatcher does sound nice with them.

I think they're fine. All nice names, though the only one I would personally use is Atticus. I think they sound nice together, too.

I think Thatcher is very cute. I'm really neither here nor there about Deacon, but is sounds strong and sturdy. Atticus makes me think of Attica the prison. Adam is nice too and you don't hear it so much anymore.
