Also, since I wasn't raised with it as a tradition, I was curious about the origins of giving a child two middle names. I know there are multiple people who have/plan on doing it, so I was just curious what attracted you to the concept of two middle names versus one.

I like the idea of using your last name as a middle name for your kids. If I marry, I plan on keeping my last name as well, but then I want my surname to go my kids, even if not as their surname. Hyphenating would be unkind as both mine and my partner's last name is long. lol

I agree about the hyphenating. I think it's a nice thought, but it's just not for me. We played with giving girls my name and boys his or vice-versa, but eh. That just seemed overly complicated. And I couldn't con him into creating our own last name, so a second middle name it is!
