A friend of a friend's new baby boy: Skye Atticus, joining sister Star [mn unknown]. I personally think anyone would consider these names overwhelmingly and non-creatively hippie. Beyond that I think Skye Atticus flows well, at least, and Atticus is one of my favorite names that was long ago vetoed by my wife.

Also, I heard this name on TLC this morning - Callista. I really like it, especially with the nn Callie. WDYT?

Someone made mention very recently on this forum of the name Danica, which I'd never heard before. I love it and added it to my list. My question is, would the use of Danni as a nn be falling into the trend of boys' names for girls? I think it's extremely cute, but want other opinions. Thanks :)

Pretty much every Danielle I've known has gone by the nn Dani/Danni so I don't think it's a problem. I love the name Danica, it's cute. I've heard it before :)

i love callista and callie. i can't explain why, i've just always liked it since i was younger and i watched allie mcbeal with my mom lol. i think it's really pretty.

not a huge fan of danica, idk i know it's not dated but it has kind of a dated sound to me. danni is a fine nickname for girls though, it's pretty popular because of danielle and i really like girls with boys nicknames. my friend's parents tried to do this with their three girls: andrea was supposed to be andy, stephanie was supposed to be stevie, and their youngest was supposed to be francesca nn frankie but they went with katie instead because the first two ended up going by andrea and steph lol.

I think NICKNAMES that are boy names are okay -- Danni for Danielle or Danica, Charlie for Charlotte, Joey for Josephine/Jocelyn, etc. They give the kid the option of going by a feminine first name or a masculine/unisex nickname, so I actually think that's the best of both worlds. So I'd say Danica nn Danni is AWESOME.

I love Callie, but Callista makes me think of Calista Flockhart.

I LOVE the name Atticus, it's one of my favorites :)

Skye? Not so much. Star? Definitely not a fan.

Callista also makes me think of Calista Flockhart.

I like Calista a lot.

I like Danica, but prefer the Danika spelling.

I like Kallista!! (Although it does remind me of Calista Flockhart also.)

I'm not fond of Skye, but I like Atticus and Star is actually growing one me.

I think using more masculine nicknames is perfectly fine!! I'm Giulia and go by Giuls most of the time, which is traditionally a boys name. (Or to be more accurate Jules is.)

I dislike Skye (in any spelling or on either gender [saying either with this rainbow header is hard]). I think Star is trashy.

Callista is decent, but I'm not a fan. I don't like the way it sounds, though it should be my style.

Danika is nice.

I am fine with traditionally male nns on girls, but not traditionally male names.

Yeah, Skye and Star are pretty ridiculous. Atticus is ok but I know a boy named Atticus and there's no good nicknames to call him.

I love Callista! I went to school with a Callista with the nickname Callie and I thought it was nice.

I'm not a huge fan of Danica, but I guess I would prefer it to Danielle.

I really like Callista, and the nickname Callie! :D Especially the nickname, lol, I've always loved it. My preferred full name would be Calandra, but I know I'm in the minority for that one - but Callista is very very pretty, also :)

As for Danica, I've only known one person by this name - a little girl my mom sometimes babysits. She's the cutest, smartest, sweetest little thing, so it has good associations :D

And I skipped whole parts of your question. Oops. Not a fan of Skye and Star as a sibset, and I don't know, I think Skye Atticus sounds a little ... pretentious? Trying too hard? I don't know.

Also, Danni for Danica would be fine, I think. I personally love boyish sounding nicknames on girls. :)

I've always loved Callista (nn Callie too) but I feel like I am a minority in that. It means most beautiful I believe.

I don't really like Skye Atticus, and Star was the name of my parakeet. So, I like it for parakeets :P

Skye and Star are both horrible and trashy. Atticus is trying a little too hard on the literary end. I'm kind of indifferent to Callista. It's a pretty nice name, but I don't think I would use it. Danica is...not great, I don't know. But I think Dani is a pretty acceptable as a girl's nickname, I know a few Danielles who go by it.

I think Dani is cute for Danica/Danika. Nic or Niki is cute too. (I'm glad you like the suggestion...I think it was me who mentioned it. I was thinking of Danica Patrick, the racecar driver.)

skye and star is way matchy for my tastes... and i'm biased to think that skye is a girl's name. i like the nickname callie, but i'm not that fond of the name callista. i'm not a fan of danica, but i danni is nice. i had a friend named danielle who went by dani.

wow, this comment seems really negative, lol
