Jun. 28th, 2010 07:38 amA friend of a friend's new baby boy: Skye Atticus, joining sister Star [mn unknown]. I personally think anyone would consider these names overwhelmingly and non-creatively hippie. Beyond that I think Skye Atticus flows well, at least, and Atticus is one of my favorite names that was long ago vetoed by my wife.
Also, I heard this name on TLC this morning - Callista. I really like it, especially with the nn Callie. WDYT?
Someone made mention very recently on this forum of the name Danica, which I'd never heard before. I love it and added it to my list. My question is, would the use of Danni as a nn be falling into the trend of boys' names for girls? I think it's extremely cute, but want other opinions. Thanks :)

Date: 2010-06-28 01:27 pm (UTC)not a huge fan of danica, idk i know it's not dated but it has kind of a dated sound to me. danni is a fine nickname for girls though, it's pretty popular because of danielle and i really like girls with boys nicknames. my friend's parents tried to do this with their three girls: andrea was supposed to be andy, stephanie was supposed to be stevie, and their youngest was supposed to be francesca nn frankie but they went with katie instead because the first two ended up going by andrea and steph lol.

Callista also makes me think of Calista Flockhart.

I think using more masculine nicknames is perfectly fine!! I'm Giulia and go by Giuls most of the time, which is traditionally a boys name. (Or to be more accurate Jules is.)

Date: 2010-06-28 02:57 pm (UTC)Callista is decent, but I'm not a fan. I don't like the way it sounds, though it should be my style.
Danika is nice.
I am fine with traditionally male nns on girls, but not traditionally male names.

I'm not a huge fan of Danica, but I guess I would prefer it to Danielle.
