Zoe Jacklynn Stowe

my friends just had their first baby and that is what they named her. what do you think? i really like it.

It's a pretty name, but to be honest, I hate the way they spelled Jacqueline.

[identity profile] bree019.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
It's not the "lynne" I don't like, it's the "Jack". Too masculine a spelling, IMO.

Your name is fine. Very pretty :)

[identity profile] ladyartemisa.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. It's quite ugly.

[identity profile] krosp.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's nice, but I don't think Zoe goes at all well with their last name.

[identity profile] krosp.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
That is interesting....and complicated. I just didn't really like the repeated long-O sound in both names, especially since the names are short. But it's still a decent name of course

[identity profile] secret-x-stars.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
i had a friend in grade school with the surname kiyashka. :O

[identity profile] bree019.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't even notice that! Zoe Stowe. Way too similar.

[identity profile] sayga.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
that was my first thought. and if someone mispronounced the last name, you'd have Zo-ey Stow-ey.

[identity profile] ladyartemisa.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
whats with the extra n?

[identity profile] sarahrose.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I love it!

[identity profile] maude.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I don't like the sound of Zoe Stowe (it sounds like a cartoon character), and I hate the spelling of Jacklynn. And IMO, Zoe and Jacklynn don't go together at all. Overall, I'm not a fan.

[identity profile] ifancylust.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
it's nice & i think it flows well, but i don't like the way they spelled the middle name.

[identity profile] mrsduryee.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
I like the way it sounds, but not the way it looks. And the oh sounds in Zoe and the last names are weird.

[identity profile] itcouldbelove.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
does zoe stowe rhyme? cause if so, that's horrible.

[identity profile] jenniferdunn.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
I've always heard Zoe pronounced 'ZO-EE' not 'ZO'.

[identity profile] itcouldbelove.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
First I was reading it Zo Stowe... and then I thought, well, it could also be Zoey Stowey... so hence my wondering if it rhymes. Or if it's Zoey Stowe... either way it's weird.

[identity profile] jenniferdunn.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh.. See I was reading it as 'Zo-ee Sto', I don't think the names rhyme.. most parents wouldn't do that to their babies.. haha. But either way they do have similar sounds and it contrasts a bit.

[identity profile] ferretiger.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
i think it sucks on multiple levels.

sorry.

[identity profile] ghost-dance.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
I like Zoe. I prefer Jacqueline to Jacklynn (the latter doesn't look nice).

[identity profile] ewaeva.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's great, although I would have spelled it Jacqueline.
There is nothing wrong with Zoe Stowe, unless someone doesn't know how to pronounce Zoe properly, in which case it's their problem, not the name's :) I don't know anyone who would actually pronounce it "Zo," though.

[identity profile] ashadelic.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
My Aunt's sister's name is Zoe and she is called Zo... She's the only one I've ever known, though.. and I don't particularly like it.

[identity profile] ewaeva.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
As a nickname, though, right? Nothing wrong with that.

[identity profile] ashadelic.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, not as a nickname. It's the way her mother wanted "Zoe" pronounced. It's not particularly something I would ever do (Zoe is one of the names my husband and I have picked out) but Zo is how they pronounce the name (?)

[identity profile] arbus.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
its actually pronounced either way. pronouncing it zo isnt "wrong".

[identity profile] miss-tee.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't like the way they spelled "Jacklynn". To me Jacqueline would have been more beautiful.
Other than that I like the name though.

[identity profile] super-bitch06.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I think its cute. Jacklynn isnt my favorite spelling, but it's not a bad name.

[identity profile] x-lostinyou.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate Zoe, it reminds me of sesame street. I think it's a cute NN for a little girl - we've considered using it for one of our longer full names - but I don't like it as a given.

Jacklynn looks horrible, but I like the name.

[identity profile] x-lostinyou.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Isolde.

We like it, but it is a bit much on a small child. Issy and Zoe are potential nicknames we've come up with, if we use it.

[identity profile] arbus.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
jacklynn is okay if theyre honoring someone named jack, but otherwise its just a "kreatyv" (aka: wrong) spelling.

zoe stowe is wierd. i hope theyre pronouncing it zo-ee, not just zo, but either way im afraid shes probably doomed to a life of people calling her zo stowe.

[identity profile] sotypical42483.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
no, I don't like it at all. Zoe is along the lines of Chloe, too popular and too trendy and I don't think it ages well. Jacklynn is a horrible misspelling of Jacqueline.

[identity profile] sotypical42483.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Also Jacklynn just seems very HARSH. Jacqueline sounds a bit softer, I don't know how to explain it exactly, but I think you DO prn the "que" differently than a "ck". To me, Jacklynn is 2 syllables, and Jacqueline is more of 3... Jac-kuh-lin, sorta.

[identity profile] sotypical42483.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I could see the confusion with Mad-uh-line and Mad-uh-lynn, definitely. If the 2 syllables is what they like, then that's cool, but I prefer the 3 for Jacqueline.

[identity profile] glitterberrys.livejournal.com 2006-07-13 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't like the spelling of "Jacklynn" but it's a nice name :)
