Emmeline

How would you pronounce this? I'm pronouncing it like Clementine, but alot of the baby name sites say it's Emma-leen.

In English, the difference between those vowels is kind of negligible, depending on the word. Because the emphasis is on the first syllable, the vowel in the second gets lost a little bit. So most people would pronounce Emmeline and Emmaline pretty much the same.

With EM-me-lee-neh, you mean the second and fourth syllables have the same vowel, right? (Like the sound in the word "set"?) Wouldn't the stress be on the third syllable, though? In German I think it would be (although I'm not fluent).

This. I saw it and immediately thought "emma-leen" myself.

This. I've seen it pronounced as -line instead of -leen, but not very often.

I've only ever met people with that name and it was pronounced emma-leen. all of the baby name books (I've seen) say emma-leen as well.

Emma-line, primarily because there's a Ben Folds Five song by that name and that's how he pronounces it. I've never heard it pronounced otherwise.

i first read emmaline and was like "ah beautiful". emmeline, i would read it german, so it would sound more like clementine than emmeleen.
