I'm so baffled as to why people would throw in an extra "e"! The name is already unusual enough in spelling for English-speakers, it doesn't need more letters. And as it comes from an actual French word, why start spelling THAT wrong now?

i am with you, i am pretty baffled by the insistence here too of the extra "e".

after talking with my husband, our favorite spelling is definitely margaux.

I had to pop in to say... "eaux" is the Cajun spelling of any French word that would normally end in "aux".
