My cousin Melyssa and her fiance Jamie had twin girls about a week ago.

Their names?
Ryan Monet & Demi Renee

Joining big sister Nyilah (NYE-la) Rae.

I like Ryan as a girls name. I also like Renee.

I don't really like any of them together... but Ryan and Demi is much better than Nyilah.
I don't like Renee and Rae either.

I can't help but read Demi Renée in french (as both are french words), and it turns out as Half Reborn :/

Ryan Monet would have been too feminine for a boy, but Ryan is a strictly boy's name to me! (the fact that it means "little king" should be enough of a deterrent for use on girls!)

Nyilah is a punch in the eye.

LOL this... I speak French too and that was my first thought. How unfortunate! If you're going to use names from another language, it's probably a good idea to find out what they actually mean.

I have a (girl) cousin named Ryan. The whole family hates it and is pretty sure the crazy mother wanted a boy, especially since she had a Jessica and she got long hair while Ryan got a bowl cut.

Demi just doesn't seem to be a full and complete name and just makes me think of a demi-god.

Renee is nms. Nyilah....ugh...are the I and the Y needed?

Rae is fine as a mn.

The only name I like is Monet and only because I've thought of using it as a mn myself but the husband said no.

MTE. But then again, as a Melissa, I'm a bit biased on that one.

I see what they did there with the rhyming middle names.

D:

Also, as a fellow Melissa, the way your cousin spells her name is also D: worthy.

I don't understand how Nyilah = NYE-lah. Why the extra "i"?

Eh...they're not too bad. Not really my style, but Demi's grown on me a lot lately. That said, to me it's a nickname for Demetria, and I hate the name Demetria, so that's out of the question!

As for Nyilah, the spelling makes me want to pronounce it Nye-ee-luh (I knew a Nailah who pronounced it like that). They should have just spelled it Nyla or Nylah. Both are just the same made kree8tv name anyway, so why does it matter?

At least it's just the middle names that are rhyme-y and not the first names.
