These names are from Nameberry.com's list "Names of the Future." They are names that, though still not that popular, are rapidly climbing the charts. Here, I'll list them and offer some commentary. Please discuss!

ANAIS    (I particularly like the literary connotations of this name.)

ANASTASIA   Nice royalty connotation, but a little too chunky for my taste.

ANNABEL

ANWEN

ARDEN    Very pretty. I bet it's going to be extremely popular.

AURELIA

BRONWYN

BRYONY    Atonement!

CALLA

CALLIOPE

CARYS

CECELIA

CLEO     Also very cute, and less daring than Cleopatra.

CORDELIA     I remember that Anneof Green Gables adored this name. She would love knowing it's going to be popular!

DAPHNE     I'm torn. Don't like the '80s connotation but do like the mythology.

DELPHINE

DIXIE

EDITH    LOVE it. I'm a huge fan of Grey Gardens and this name makes me think of crumbling mansions and quirky style.

ELIANA     My name's Ilana, so this makes me a little happy.

ELOISE

ESTELLE

EVER    It's one of my favourite names.

FLEUR      Too prissy.

GAIA    I really like it, but it's not for the faint of heart.

GREER

GRETA

HELENA

ISOLDE     One of my favourites. So beautiful and classy.

JEMIMA     Can't say I like Jemina.

KETURAH

KIKI     I don't this name is all that great.

LARK

LAVINIA    Still too old-fashioned.

MAMIE     I just don't think I'll ever find this name attractive.

MILLA

MIRABELLA     Following the Isabella trend, but would do well to be shortened. It's a bit too frlilly.

NEVE

PERSEPHONE    Nice, but clunky.

PIPER     Cute,

PIPPA

REMI

SASKIA   I like it.

SELA

SLOANE

VERITY      Love this name.

VERONICA      Another 80s redux.

WREN     Remember Even Stevens?

Boys

ARCHER    Too phonetically harsh for my taste.

BEAU

BECKETT         Very 1980s Yuppie.

CALLUM

CALVIN    Phonetically beautiful. I reallu like it.

CASPIAN

CORMAC

DEXTER

ELLIOT

GAVIN

HUGO   This is an amazing name.

KIERAN

LACHLAN     This is very nice.

LENNON        Reminds me of Adam Pascal's son.

OTTO

REMY      A rare female-to-male gender switch?

RUFUS

SILAS   I like it.

STELLAN      Nice.

For once I actually agree with one of these 'what names are going to be popular' things. There are some I just can't see getting trendy (Jemima?) but for the most part... yeah. Some of them are already up there.

But Remy was never a female name, as far as I know...

I think Jemima is on the list because it's popular in the UK. It doesn't have the "Aunt Jemima" connotation there that it does here. Often names get popular in Europe before the cross over to the US. However, I agree with you that Jemima isn't going to be able to shake the syrup lady image here so I doubt it will get very popular!

yep. I love the name Jemima, in theory. But I can't get past the syrup.
