Helio Castroneves (Indy 500 winner, Dancing with the Stars champ) and his girlfriend have had their first child, a daughter named Mikaella. I assume it's pronounced Michaela, but it's a new spelling for me. The double-L's make me want to say it differently, though, so I'm not sure.

When I see Michaela, I think 'Michael-la'. But, yes, the doubt l's make me want to say it weirdly.

I'm not a fan of that name, but I like it better with the K than the CH.

Michela is the italian version that is pronounced Mee-KEH-lah, and possibly what all these kr8vv spellings are trying to get at.

Mikaella isn't one of the worse, imo, but I do want to read it Mee-ka-ELLA.

I heard it prounounced on tv as "Mick-Aye-A-ya. The double lls make a "ya" sound in Spanish.

To be honest, I'm so confused with all these Mikaella, Mikayla, Michaela, MIC names. All I see is jumble now and I have no idea how to pronounce half of them.

I have seen Michaela about 10 different ways - Mikayla, Michayla, Mikkaylla, Michala, etc. I have no surprises about the popularity of that name :p

Ewwww... I never understood the appeal of Michaela/Makayla anyway, and i am further stumped as to why people keep chosing this name and then spelling it differently... a different spelling for a name everyone seems to use anyway does not make it unique - just misspelled :P

Mikaella...I want to pronounce that like Mee-kah-EL-lah, which I like. I don't hate it. If it sounds like Michaela though...then that's bad!

Should have just gone with Michaela, if that is indeed what they were going for. Mikaella makes me want to say mika-ella, lol. >_<
However it's pronounced, I don't like it.
