[identity profile] pickleshmickle.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

so i'm having a baby and said baby is due nov. 5th, and we still don't know the sex (but we will here REALLY soon!!) but we have a couple of names picked out and i wanted some input.  here they are:

girl (duh!)

maggie abigail brecht

boy:

owen ______ brecht

owen is my last name and i've always wanted it to be the first name if i have a boy, with maggie abigail brecht, i just came up with the abigail part last night in a dream i had, but i think i really like it, it seems to flow well together, i mean with the g's in the first and middle and the b's in the middle and last but before i share this with my boyfriend i wanted other people's opinions (i'm afraid it sounds silly and is going to be shot down by my boyfriend fast, but i've been saying it out loud all morning and i am really becoming quite attached to it so i don't want to get upset if he does this, so if other people shoot it down first then i won't take it out on him....poor poor brendan.  he gets the brunt of my pregnancy a lot....)  oh and just in case it's not clear, brecht will be it's last name.

I sort of agree that Maggie by itself is a little short. I found a list of "Mag" names that could be easily nn'ed Maggie.

Margot (french)
Marguerite (french)
Marjorie (french)
Macaria (greek)
Madge (greek)
Megara (greek)
Magena (native american/hebrew)
Magenta
Magda (polish)
Magdalia (celtic)

And, this one is a stretch for the nickname Maggie, but Morgandy (also celtic) is cute.

I fully admit that many of these names arent particularly ones on the top of my list, but they could all be shortened to Maggie relatively easily. I especially like Macaria and Magena.
