[identity profile] i12bmore.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

It's occured to me that I've known a lot of people who've used nicknames that were an unexpected twist on their names. These are all I can think of off the top of my head:

Aaron > Ron
Christopher > Tophie
Elizabeth > Ebee (pronounced EE-bee)
Roosevelt > Rose
Thomas Edward > Ted
Amanda > Ami (pronounced like Amy)
Malik > Mike
Farid > Fred
Frederick > Rick
Joshua > Jos (pronounced like Joss)
Jeremiah > Miah (pronounced MYE-uh)
Nathaniel > Than (pronounced with a soft "th")

Any of you encounter unexpected nicknames?

I know a Reen-ee (Irene) as well. I immediately thought of that when I was reading the post.
