I went to see The Blind Side last night, and the teenage daughter's name was Collins. What I'm pretty sure was originally a surname, and a pretty masculine-sounding one at that. WDYT?

I like it. Collin for a girl is a guily pleasure of mine.

That one caught me off guard! At first I thought they were calling some girl by her surname, until I realized she was their daughter.

In general I'm not a fan of masculine-sounding names on girls, but I do have a weakness for the tradition of surnames (especially maiden names) as middle names, and there's not that much of a jump to using it as a first name. I guess I kind of liked it because it seemed like a family name, and not just a surname that someone picked because it sounded good.

It was my paternal grandmother's surname. I wouldn't use it on a girl, but...it's a nice name all the same.

Some surnames work, but that one is clumsy and IMO will sound pretty ugly when added to the read surname most of the time. It's trying waaayyy too hard and too obviously to be cool.

at first I hated it and kinda was like "what?!" and by the end of the movie, I liked it.

I don't like it, especially with the "s" at the end, which I find awkward.
The name Collin is okay- on a boy.

It makes me think of Rent, but the character was a guy. It's intriguing on a girl but I don't think I like it.
