I'm Rachel. But I realllyyyy don't love that. I don't know, most peple at least feel good about THEIR names, but me... ehh not so much. My mom and I have talked about me wanting to change it, and she actually said we'll see. So, I might as well come up with some solid ideas.

I Like the names
Chloe
Eden
Jadyn
Anna (Ahna)
Danielle

and plenty more. But I don't want to use something on me that I'd want for a future daughter. So I've got a pick under the cut, tell me what I look like? I like a ton of different kinds of names, so new stuff, old stuff, anything. Even funky spelling. Go wild hunns.

btw... don't take my hair color into consiteration, it's blonde right now, but I'm doing red soon hopefully. And I know that won't be forever eaither.

I like Anna for you, but if you want it pronounced Ah-na, I would go with Ana.

Ditto. I <3 Ah-na, but it's spelled Ana.

I actually have an LJ friend who's name is Anah, pronounced Ah-na.

You look a lot older than 14!

I would say wait a little - at least the four years you need to wait to do it yourself.

In other news (lol), I like Danielle for you.

I think Rachel suits you fine.
But if you really don't like it, why not consider going by your middle name?

Lizziey.. i always assumed it was Lizzie & your surname was a Y. Thats like.. i can't decide whether to be a Lizzie or a Lizzy.. hell i'll be both!!

LOL! Not that far off actually. My mom always said it was "ie" but my nanna (favorite person ever as a kiddo) said it was a "y" at the end. I was 6. My mother was very stubborn, and would not let me see my Nanna until Nanna would agree with it being an "ie". I think it was about a month before I got to missing my Nanna too bad, and said (this i remember!) "No, you're both wrong! Its 'iey'!" Its been that way ever since. :)

And my surname is a T. It used to be a J. :D

LOL you do have some funny stories!!
My friend Lizzy is a Y because her older sister is Molly & they thought Molly & LIzzy looked better than Molly & Lizzie. We changed for a while when we were about 8, she became Lizzie & I became Sophie. It made thinks so much easier because those are the usual spellings, we'd just been confusing before as Lizzy & Sophy!
Unfortunatly it didnt last & i'm a Sophy. urgh!

'Tis life. :)

...sophy? *wrinkles nose* I've never seen it spelled that way. I've always seen it as "ie". Well...you could always comprimise...Sophiey. :-p

to the members of baby_names: please don't let this one thread turn into yet another rename-everyone-free-for-all.

But, I'll be nice for once. I think you look a lot like a "Holly".

I think Rachel fits you just fine.. or maybe Hailey.. You kinda look like a Hailey too..
But for the love of all that is decent and good, don't choose Jadyn.. try going with an actual name. ;)

My opinion.

This isn't what you wanna hear but I think Rachel is a beautiful, classy name.

And I have an unusual name (Annika) even though babies are getting that name lately, but in the 80s and when I was 14, it was NOT a common name and I was a loner and I hated it. I hated how no one could pronounce it and it was the only "foreign" name in a small Oklahoma town amongst all the Jennifers and Jessicas and Michelles.

Changing my name at 14 would've been a mistake. (And my parents were ones who DID think long and meaningful about my name). And yes I did read your above comments.

I still say...

Wait a few years.

I agree with what she said.

I have an unusual name myself and it took me a long time to get used to it and accept it.

I guess it really depends on where you're from for a name to be considered unusual. Y'see, one of my friends from Finland is named Annika and that's a pretty common name over there. As it is in Sweden (I think, not totally sure about that fact). It's also the name of Pippi Longstocking's friend (a character written by Astrid Lindgren)! ^-^

I agree with you on waiting until she's old enough to change it herself, but not everyone changes their mind! I had an unusual name growing up too (Esther) and hated it for as long as I can remember. When I was about 13 or 14 I started going by my middle name, and wound up changing it legally when I was 20 - I haven't regretted in the last 3 years (except when trying to get official documents changed, which is annoying.)

OP - Off your list I think you could carry off Eden, Danielle or A(h)n(n)a pretty well. I also like Tamsin (as suggested downthread) and I'll gift you my favourite book names - Lucy and Lyra.

My name is Jamie. When I was your age I wanted to change my name.
Everyone I met with my name was a boy. To make it worse my guyfriends usually called me James(probably also because my last name is Taylor).. I hated it. And my middle name? Lynn. Named after my -maternal- great aunt. I don't even know the woman really but the few times I met her I hated her. And I don't talk to my moms side of the family anymore.
Now, though, I like my name. I've met a few girls with the name and so on and so forth. Haha, it's just ME now.
But I still definately am not against changing your name. Especially with your story. Just give it some time. You may change your mind and not want to change it.. or you might not and still want to change it but then you'll really have taken into consideration what you want it changed to.
You're beautiful. I think Ana-pronounced Ahna- definately looks like it would fit you.
I also think you look like a Leighann. Or Breanna.
:)

If you like Anna but want it Ahna then go with Ana!
I think Chloe suits you though.

Wow, people sure are rude today.

I absolutely love the name Eden (why do I keep seeing it everywhere all of a sudden?!), and I think Chloe could fit you as well, although Chloe is very young-sounding to me. I liked somebody's suggestion for Anah. I'd never use it, but it's kind of cool. Anyway, I don't think the name you choose has to be super "meaningful." Hell, I doubt my name has any meaning other than it was one both of my parents could agree on!

The only issue I have with your age is that as you grow, your taste in names is likely to change. I mean, if I had re-named myself at age 14, I'd probably be called Kylie and I'd definitely be kicking myself for it now! But you did say that you wouldn't be doing it until after high school, so I'd say if you still like the same name then, go for it.
