Hm, well I have never heard of it. Her friend works in another department, wrote it down (so she would remember how to spell it) and brought it to her to show her. Mom kept the paper and brought it to dinner to show me.

And the patient was a grown woman, not a baby, so there is no nursery page to speak of.

My co-teacher has a teacher friend who honest to God, has a student with that name. She showed her the class roster.

When her friend wasn't sure how to pronounce the student's name, the girl got very offended and said, "DUH, LADASHA!"

It may be an internet joke, but someone was probably lame enough to name their child that.

"Ladasha" is an actual name, with an actual meaning, according to several baby name websites. It isn't so far off to me that someone idiot would take that name and fuck with the spelling to be cre8tive.

Everyone says it's an urban legend but one of my good friends found a license with the name La-a and had to pronounce it over the loud speaker at her job - "Will La-a come to the front desk" type of deal. Of course she pronounced it like "Laya" or something along those lines but the girl said "My name is La-dash-uh."

Now, could she have been fucking with me? Possibly. But I don't know.

I posted it too and got all the LOL's at me too.

If you enter La-a in google they go "did you mean Ladasha?" and I found that site. *shrugs* Not sure if that means it's real or isn't real. But with the stupid names people come up with, I'm not above believing someone really did decide to do so.

My sister is a teacher and taught a girl with this name. I swear. Only hers was Le-a. So naturally my sister called the girl Leah and had to endure the mom tearing into her for ten minutes about mispronouncing her daughter's name. And I quote: "The dash be not silent."

I worked in direct care for several years and in that time I had a Diamond, Raven, and a Prince and Precious (they were brother and sister). I also went to school with a girl named Sparkle. I don't really think that Ladasha with a fucked up spelling is all that farfetched.

I mean, really? My mom was an L&D nurse for 15 years and in that time had a woman name her daughter Meconium and Syphillis (she saw it on her chart and thought it was pretty...she pronounced in Sy-phillis). People name their babies some stupid shit.
