the strangest name i have ever heard

My mom is a nurse in a hospital. One of her friends at work had a patient on Friday with a most unusual name, this is how it was spelled:

La-A.

Ladasha. Yeah. The dash in the name is pronounced "dash" within the name.

I was floored. I just sat there with my mouth open for a good 30 seconds. That is so not ok. Definitely the strangest name I have ever heard.

this has been going around the internet forever, and has been posted here at least three other times. it's just a funny story people like to say happened to someone they know.

Hm, well I have never heard of it. Her friend works in another department, wrote it down (so she would remember how to spell it) and brought it to her to show her. Mom kept the paper and brought it to dinner to show me.

And the patient was a grown woman, not a baby, so there is no nursery page to speak of.

"Ladasha" is an actual name, with a meaning and an origin (supposedly, say so several baby name sites). Is it such a stretch to think that some moron decided to change the spelling to be different?

Perhaps. It's one of her oldest friends who works in the ER. I doubt she made it up. It takes all kinds ya know?
